I’m having problems with the ordering process, what can I do?
You could phone Abacus Books (09) 415 0630, and we will talk you through the ordering process. Or, we could accept your order by phone or
email
.
What methods of payment can I use?
With Credit Card payments we are only able to accept Visa and Mastercard. However, if you wish to pay by cheque or direct credit, before you ‘Checkout Cart’ select ‘Buy on Account’ as the payment option, and add a note in the ‘Comments’ field stating your preferred method of payment. We will contact you to advise and arrange.
When can I expect my order to arrive?
Stocks of next years required textbooks are currently arriving in the Abacus warehouse, and most are due by mid December. Because of a few delays from Publishers, some titles are not due to arrive until later in January. So, while you are encouraged to place your order now, charging and shipping will not begin until mid December. With the Christmas break, no orders will be processed between 24th December and 5th January. So, once your order is complete, it will be charged and shipped to you.
What happens if textbooks are not available before term starts?
Abacus provides the College with regular updates on the stock levels of books. If some textbooks are not available by 20th January, the balance of your order will be shipped to you, then the final title/s will be charged and sent to you as soon as they arrive – at no additional freight charge. Teachers will be informed that the particular text books are delayed and they will adjust teaching programmes accordingly
I will be away over Christmas, can I make alternative delivery arrangements?
Yes, please contact Abacus to provide alternative details for delivery
What will the freight charges be?
To cover packaging and delivery costs we add a freight charge of $6.50 (single book orders $3.00) for orders to anywhere in the Auckland Metropolitan Area. If an order is to be delivered elsewhere in New Zealand the freight cost will be advised before charging and shipping.
Only one freight charge will be incurred – should your order be initially part supplied, the balance will be forwarded at no further freight cost.
International orders are subject to actual freight charges depending on the destination and delivery method requested. We always research to establish the most economical method of delivery. If the freight charge is a significant amount we will always notify the purchaser with details and freight options.
With International orders we are able to subtract New Zealand Goods and Services Tax (12.5%).
What happens if a book arrives in a damaged condition?
Any claims for shortages, damaged or misbound books should be made within 7 days of receipt whereupon replacements will be arranged free of charge. Faulty books can be returned via the School Administration Office.
If my son/daughter changes his/her subject options, can I return textbooks?
Books will be accepted for return up until the end of February (after the last subject option change day). Of course books will need to be undamaged and completely unmarked before they can be accepted for credit. Books can be returned via the School Administration Office.
Is the school holding stock of textbooks at the school?
No, the school will not be holding stock. If replacement books are required, they must be ordered online.
Why is the school only selling books online?
The College is constantly looking for ways to improve service to parents and to keep costs to a minimum. Selling books online assists to reduce the price of the books, and for many parents saves them from making trips to the school to purchase books. Also, some parents and students prefer to obtain textbooks well in advance of the term starting. Bookstore Online will be accessible 24/7 throughout the year.
I am able to purchase the same title elsewhere – do I have to buy from Abacus?
Parents are free to purchase books from any reseller. Where the title of the book is the same, but the edition is different (eg Animal Farm at Year 10), we do advise parents to purchase the same edition, as some page numbering and editing may be different.
Can I buy other books through Abacus?
